The First Picture

.......and a due date. Well yesterday was our first Dr. Apt. Ryan got off work early and we went together. We were both ready to go way to early, as is always the case when your nervous. It was so scary not knowing what would happen, if everything would be OK, would we like the Dr., would they do an ultra sound, would we see the baby? That is only a portion of what was going though our heads. But in the end it was much better than expected. Dr. Beller is a very nice younger Dr. joked around the whole time, and made us both at ease (if you've seen 'Knocked Up' it actually had a lot of similarities). His nurse is also very friendly and the office is very nice. The actual procedures weren't as much fun but also not as bad as I thought it would be either. The last thing they did was the ultra sound and while holding Ryan's hand we saw our baby for the first time, what a feeling that is. I've been with my siblings to get theirs done and yet I couldn't have predicted what that would be like, I can't explain the feelings I had, and It is just amazing to be a part of. The official due date is Oct 7th. On our way out they gave the baby tons of presents for his/her 7 week 1 day birthday :)

Valentines Day Weekend

Ryan had a three day weekend due to Presidents day, so we took a short drive to Newport and stayed the weekend in an oceanfront resort. The view was amazing and we discovered how beautiful Newport is. We spent our days walking on the beach, and it was even warm enough to put the top down on the car. (That was nice since I'm dreading selling it.) The best part of Pacific Northwest beaches is all the texture of the land, no beach looks the same, and everyone of them surprise you with what you find. Looking out our window to the right we saw the Yaquina Head lighthouse, and to the left the Yaquina Lighthouse (the only lighthouse in Oregon with the living quarters attached.) It was a wonderful three days.

Heceta Beach

Last weekend we traveled over to the coast to visit the Sea Lion Caves. When we got there we discovered we couldn't bring the dogs (which is rare in Oregon), so we headed over to Heceta Beach and had a relaxing day soaking up the sun. These are pictures of Heceta Lighthouse, Sea Lions playing in the Ocean, and Heceta Beach.

Ryan's Horoscope the day we found out

I saved this for the baby book and thought I'd share it with you. Whether you're a believer in Horoscopes or not, it's kinda fitting. :)

Recent opposition standing in the way of long-term goals is apt to take a turn for the better today, dear Gemini. Situations surrounding these issues should become clearer, and you should have a better idea of what exactly it is you are coming up against. You will find that this is a very climactic time for you in a great number of ways, and that you will now begin reaping the rewards of what you have sown on many levels.

How Ryan Found out......

Just a normal day at the office, that is what he was thinking, the constant text messages of "are you coming home yet?" didn't ring any bells. When he finally did arrive through the door it wasn't with a smile. "What's wrong" I asked. He mentioned something about the garage being too small and the truck being too big and there isn't enough space for all our things...Blah...Blah...Blah. (That's what I heard) He flopped down on the couch and took off his shoes. I figured I better wait a few minutes, so we went through a list of what each of us did that day (all the while I'm just dying inside). I casually mention that he hasn't opened his present that me and Lilly and Suni got him today, as i bring it over. Ryan pulls out the tissue paper and a clear blue test with the words pregnant appear right on top. First there is shock, as he pulls out the outfit, and booties, and then "Really? No? Really? Are you serious? Really?" I of coarse am laughing and crying, together at the same time. "Read the card," I say.....

Wel
l We're pregnant! After almost eight years of marriage, three states, six jobs, five dogs, and not quite everything we thought we'd do before hand....we are settling down in Eugene Oregon, to raise a family. We have been looking to move out of Las Vegas, Nevada where we have been living for the past six years, into a more kid friendly environment. We found just the place here. It is a lush landscape close to the ocean, and affordable to top it off. I quit my job of eight years, to focus on photography and family life, while Ryan took a promotion to Assistant Manager. As scary as this decision has been for the both of us it seams to be working out better than expected and with all the taxes we were paying we actually are doing better now with one less income. (Funny how that works out) This new addition to my belly has only terrified us even further, however both of us are so excited that we may end up shouting the news to anyone in a hearing radius. Coming from such a large family and watching so many of my siblings go through this process of becoming a mother, you'd think i had it all down pat, and so did I, until now. I realized at almost the same moment i discovered i was pregnant, how very unprepared and uneducated I really was. I am hoping to hear from you all often with suggestions, thoughts, anything that may make the butterflies subside. I'm encouraging all information and appreciate all the help we can get. We know we're far away but now you can experience this amazing journey right along with us. We will update our progress, and you can watch as our baby grows.
